Chelsea player ratings: Leicester City (A)

In an incredible goal-filled final day of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign, Leicester City and Chelsea failed to conform to type as they played out a goalless draw at the King Power Stadium.

Ross Barkley wasted a good opportunity to open the scoring, but his shot was saved well by Kasper Schmeichel. Cesar Azpilicueta then did his best to fill Arsenal’s forwards with hope ahead of the Europa League final by slipping twice to allow Jamie Vardy a free run on goal. Luckily for the out of sorts Spanish right-back, Vardy was unable to capitalise and with Gonzalo Higuain spurning the best chance of the half the two sides went in level at the break.

The second-half was uninspiring, to say the least as the tempo dropped off the scale, and an apathetic mood engulfed fans and players alike.

With Tottenham drawing at home to Everton, Chelsea were still able to confirm a third-place finish, whilst Leicester bid fond farewells to two of the side’s title-winning heroes Shinji Okazaki and Danny Simpson.

matchday.
