Bristol City exercised their option to sign him permanently for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year deal with the club.
This comes off the back of an impressive year for club and country, catching the eye with his performances at left-back in the Championship and nailing down his place in the England under-21 side.
Much has been made of Chelsea’s use of their academy over the years, with many seeing it as more of a separate business to the first-team – rather than a direct production line for the club.
With the departure of Dasilva, other Chelsea academy players could be considering their futures at Stamford Bridge. Here are some that could potentially leave the club in the coming months…
The Dutch centre-forward has been linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer. He is said to be concerned about his prospects of breaking into the first-team at Stamford Bridge.
Castillo’s future remains up in the air after reports claimed he was not going to sign a new contract at the club. Chelsea need to decide what is going to happen with him soon, as they risk losing a talented young player.
After struggling to find the back of the net in his recent loan spells away from the club, Ugbo could be considering his future. He may be best looking for a permanent move away from Chelsea.
Unless he is given a chance to nail down the number nine position at Chelsea next season, Abraham could be forced to seek options elsewhere. The forward scored 27 goals out on loan to Aston Villa last term.
Although he is older than most on this list, at 25, he is still a product of the academy and part of the under-23’s side. It could be the right time for him to find a new home for next season.
After a superb season on loan to Wigan, James will be hoping to get a chance in the Chelsea first-team next season. If not, several Premier League clubs have been touted with interest and James’ head could be turned.
After his disappointing performances for England at the under-21 European Championships, Clarke-Salter could be on the chopping board this summer. The defender failed to perform for his country, despite wearing the captain’s armband.
Baker has been sent out on a host of different loan spells in recent years. It could finally be time for him to call a day on his Chelsea career and find a new club on a permanent basis.
