Chelsea make Edinson Cavani enquiry

Chelsea have reportedly made an enquiry to Paris Saint-Germain over a January move for Edinson Cavani.

That’s according to the Telegraph, who claim that the Blues are looking to steal a march on Atletico Madrid in the race to sign the wantaway striker.

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo confirmed in recent days that Cavani, who is out of contract in the summer, has handed in a transfer request ahead of a move away this month.

The report claims that Manchester United and Tottenham are also possible destinations for the Uruguayan, but it seems as if Chelsea are the only English side to make their interest known.

Lampard recently admitted he ‘loved’ Cavani’s mentality and attitude whenever he played against him, and we feel as though a short-term move for Cavani would be a shrewd deal by the Blues.

Olivier Giroud has been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan, and if the World Cup winner does leave, we think Cavani would be an excellent addition.

He’s netted 195 goals over his six-and-a-half-year stay with PSG, racking up plenty of experience at the elite level during that time.

His wealth of knowledge, we feel, would see him take to the Premier League with relative ease, despite turning 33 next month.

In our opinion, Cavani’s possible arrival would also help Tammy Abraham in the long run.

Working with a striker who has 28 appearances at major tournaments for his country could help take Abraham’s game to the next level in the long run, so we’re all for a possible move to Stamford Bridge over the coming days.

matchday.
