Chelsea hold productive new talks over Kai Havertz deal

According to a report in the Daily Mail Chelsea are moving closer to landing Kai Havertz after holding constructive talks with his club Bayer Leverkusen.

Whilst the two clubs continue to negotiate over the fee, it seems the player himself has his heart set on a switch to Stamford Bridge.

The two clubs also appear to be edging closer to an agreement, with a series of bonuses and add-ons taking the Blues’ offer closer to the Bundesliga side’s £90m valuation for the 21-year-old.

The arrival of Havertz would be another feather in the cap of boss Frank Lampard as he looks to build a squad ready to challenge the upper echelons of the Premier League once more.

Having already sealed the arrival of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and forward Timo Werner from Red Bull Leipzig, Havertz would complete an impressive hat-trick of attacking additions.

Havertz would perhaps be the biggest coo of the trio too as the highly sought after attacking midfielder has been a target for numerous elite clubs across Europe.

The highly-rated prospect, who has been capped on seven occasions by Germany, made 45 appearances for Leverkusen during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring an impressive 18 goals for the German club.

It is believed Chelsea’s guarantee of Champions League football next term has played a major factor in Havertz’s decision to leave Leverkusen, after his club could only finish fifth, thus meaning that they will only be participating in next season’s Europa League.
