The Sweden international has been an important wide option for Chelsea Women, but this update now points towards a possible summer exit.
According to Tom Garry, OL Lyonnes are close to completing a deal for the 28-year-old.
That would be a significant move because Rytting Kaneryd has offered Chelsea pace, direct running and natural width from the right side. Losing that profile would leave another attacking decision for the club to address before the new season.
Chelsea Face Another Wide-Attack Call
Chelsea Women have already moved through another period of squad evolution, and a Rytting Kaneryd exit would add to that theme.
Her directness has often given Chelsea a different route in the final third. She can carry the ball under pressure and stretch opposition full-backs, which is not always easy to replace quickly.
For Chelsea supporters, the key point is not only the destination. It is the timing.
If OL Lyonnes complete the move, Chelsea will need to decide whether they already have enough wide depth or whether this opens another recruitment gap.
Rytting Kaneryd leaving would feel like a major Women’s Super League storyline, especially given the strength of the club reportedly pushing to sign her.
For now, the deal is not confirmed. But the direction of travel is clear.
Chelsea could be close to losing one of their most recognisable wide players.
