Landon Emenalo has travelled to Scotland for talks with Celtic as Chelsea consider sending the highly-rated defender out on loan.
The 18-year-old has been involved with Xabi Alonso’s senior squad during pre-season but could now leave Stamford Bridge temporarily to gain regular first-team football.
Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph says Emenalo visited Scotland to discuss a possible loan and was shown around Celtic Park and the club’s Lennoxtown training base.
Celtic are assessing the Chelsea youngster as they look to provide competition and cover for Kieran Tierney at left-back.
Chelsea youngster Landon Emenalo wanted by Celtic
Emenalo is the son of former Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo and has progressed through the Blues’ academy after also spending time with Monaco.
He has yet to make his competitive Chelsea debut, although his involvement during pre-season has offered Alonso an opportunity to assess his development.
A move to Celtic would give Emenalo the chance to experience senior football while remaining under Chelsea’s long-term control.
The Blues have already used the loan market extensively with their academy players this summer.
ReadChelsea recently reported that Ryan Kavuma-McQueen agreed a season-long Portsmouth loan after featuring during Chelsea’s pre-season preparations.
Emenalo could now follow a similar pathway.
The Scottish Sun reports Celtic are keen to bring him in as they strengthen their options behind Tierney.
No final agreement has yet been confirmed, but Emenalo’s visit to Scotland indicates discussions have progressed beyond initial interest.
