Chelsea have completed the permanent sale of Nicolas Jackson to Aston Villa after the two clubs agreed a package worth up to £65million.
The 25-year-old’s three-year spell at Stamford Bridge is officially over, with both clubs confirming the transfer after Jackson completed the final stages of his move to Villa Park.
ReadChelsea reported on Thursday that Aston Villa had agreed a £65m deal with Chelsea for Jackson. The transfer has now been formally completed.
Chelsea seal Nicolas Jackson sale
Chelsea confirmed in an official club statement that Jackson has joined Aston Villa permanently.
Villa have also announced the signing, bringing an end to a transfer race which previously included Atletico Madrid and Napoli.
Jackson had already agreed terms with both Villa and Atletico during the final stages of negotiations, as ReadChelsea reported earlier this week.
Villa eventually moved decisively to secure his signature.
Jackson leaves Chelsea after joining from Villarreal in the summer of 2023.
He was part of the squads that won the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup and scored 13 goals during the 2025/26 campaign, including in the Conference League final against Real Betis.
£65m exit completes Chelsea attacking overhaul
Jackson’s departure is another major step in Xabi Alonso’s reshaping of the Chelsea attack.
Liam Delap has also left for Nottingham Forest, meaning the Blues are set to receive as much as £115m from the two striker sales.
ReadChelsea has already examined how the £115m striker clear-out has transformed Alonso’s attacking options.
Jackson’s departure became increasingly likely after he slipped down the hierarchy during pre-season.
Joao Pedro has established himself as a major part of Alonso’s attack, while Danny Welbeck scored on his competitive debut against Luton Town.
Chelsea have now turned Jackson into another substantial outgoing fee before the transfer deadline.
For Villa, the Senegal international begins a new chapter under Unai Emery.
For Chelsea, one of the summer’s longest-running exit sagas is finally complete.
