Filip Jorgensen says he would have stayed at Chelsea if he could play every game, having decided in January that he wanted a move.
The goalkeeper, now on a season-long loan at Strasbourg, explained his thinking in a Tipsbladet interview published on 29 September.
In comments translated from Danish, he said: “If I could play every game at Chelsea, I would like to stay, but if not, I would like to leave.”
He explained that Chelsea had asked about his intentions two months before the end of last season. Regular football was his priority.
Why Filip Jorgensen wanted to leave Chelsea
Chelsea’s official loan announcement records 36 appearances across his first two seasons, including 12 in the 2025/26 campaign.
The Dane contributed to Chelsea’s Conference League triumph in 2025, starting all but one match in that competition, and became a Club World Cup winner that summer.
However, those achievements did not provide the weekly football he wanted.
His eventual move followed an early departure from Chelsea’s pre-season tour in July.
Jorgensen has not settled what happens after the Strasbourg loan. He told Tipsbladet that his focus is having a successful season before assessing his position next summer.
