Chelsea signed Michy Batshuayi from Marseille to be an understudy to Diego Costa but two-thirds of the way through his debut season it’s clear that he’s got a lot of work to do before he can eventually replace the Spaniard. Reports surfaced yesterday that Chelsea were growing increasingly frustrated with Michy Batshuayi’s inability to grasp […]
Chelsea were linked with a move for Leonardo Bonucci in the summer after the Italian’s superb displays at Euro 2016 but the Blues were unable to persuade Juventus to part ways with their star centre-back. Antonio Conte, who signed Bonucci in 2009 whilst he was the manager of Bari, also worked with him at Juventus […]
Chelsea allowed Branislav Ivanovic to leave the club for Zenit St. Petersburg during the January transfer window which has left them short of right-back options for the time being. While Victor Moses has impressed greatly this season in an unfamiliar right wing-back role, Antonio Conte would like to bring in a player who is a natural at […]
Chelsea have one of the largest youth academies in English football which would explain the large amount of players out on loan. This has not always translated to bringing through talented youngsters into the first-team in recent years, with John Terry still the last academy product to become a first-team regular. The likes of Josh McEachran, […]
Chelsea have been over-reliant at times on the likes of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard in recent seasons and you can never have enough depth in the attacking areas of the pitch. Antonio Conte is looking to raid Serie A for some much-needed cover in attack and has identified Lazio’s Balde Keita as a potential […]
James Rodriguez was heavily linked with a Premier League move prior to his £64m move from Monaco to Real Madrid after the 2014 World Cup. However, the last two-plus years haven’t exactly gone to plan for the Colombian midfielder, especially under Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu. This season, the 25-year-old has started just eight games […]
Club captain John Terry has been on the outside looking in at Chelsea this season under Antonio Conte but that hasn’t driven him to considering leaving the club. Chelsea’s central midfield has been a settled group, for the most part, this season with N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic as Antonio Conte’s preferred tandem with Cesc Fabregas featuring now and again, but they’re reportedly targeting an addition to that midfield group. Atalanta star Franck Kessie is alleged to be on Chelsea’s radar ahead of […]
Christian Atsu has endured a strange career with Chelsea since his £2.5m transfer from Porto in August 2013. The Ghanaian was immediately loaned to the Blues’ affiliate club Vitesse Arnhem while the club waited on a work permit and he enjoyed a decent season with the Dutch side, scoring five goals and assisting in six more […]
Willian hasn’t always been a first-team regular for Chelsea this season but he remains an integral part of the squad at Stamford Bridge. Jose Mourinho was the man who brought him to the club and he was looking to sign him for Manchester United in the summer, but the deal didn’t materialise despite being close […]
Chelsea currently sit nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table but talk of potential summer additions hasn’t stopped. The Blues have not dealt with Real Madrid since August 2010 (if you ignore the bizarre Michael Essien loan of 2012) when they sold centre-back Ricardo Carvalho to the La Liga giants for €8m […]
According to Yahoo! Chelsea are plotting an aggressive summer recruitment drive and have identified Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo as one of their top targets of the transfer window. Chelsea’s upturn in form this season has been the switch from a back four to a back three, moving Cesar Azpilicueta inside and playing Victor Moses as a […]
