A video has emerged online of a small group of Chelsea fans appearing to discriminate against a man on the Paris metro – because of the colour of his skin.
The thugs refused the man entry onto the train several times, before breaking out into a chant of “we’re racist and that’s the way we like it.” Disgusting.
After a good result against PSG, a 1-1 draw at a difficult ground; for this to overshadow it is extremely disappointing.
These ‘supporters’ traveled into France, and discriminated against an innocent bystander in his own country; seemingly failing to realise that they were the guests in his country.
I can only hope that Chelsea and the authorities look further into this incident and take action against the offenders, because this sort of behaviour is not acceptable.
We tend to bemoan how racism is such a problem in Italy and Russia, but this is in our own back yard, in our fan base and it reflects badly on our great football club.
There is no place for this foul conduct in society, nor at Chelsea. I can only hope that the wrongdoers never see the Stamford Bridge interior again.
