Despite only joining Chelsea over the summer, reports have already tipped Filipe Luis for an early exit from Stamford Bridge. Luis has struggled to hold down a place in Jose Mourinho’s first team, Cesar Azpilicueta has been preferred at left back.
The Brazilian has featured mostly in cup competitions and has made just eight starts under Jose Mourinho, despite joining for £15.8 million over the summer. The lack of game time has resulted in speculation that his former club Atletico Madrid could come back in for the defender. Luis was speaking to Sky Sports ahead Chelsea’s game against Stoke on Saturday he said: “I’m happy at Chelsea. I want to stay at the club until the end of my contract”.
Luis went on to speak about the title race and Jose Mourinho: “Is the title race over? No. It’s really difficult. We have nine games- really difficult games.” The defender went on to say: “ He always asked for everyone to be focused and concentrated in the games and to try to win every match we have”.
Luis was in action for Brazil over the international break where as Azpilicueta was not included in the Spanish squad. This could well mean, Luis is set for another start on the bench.
