Reports this morning suggest that Chelsea could be set to attempt to lure Edison Cavani to Stamford Bridge to bolster their Champions League challenge next season. Cavani is reportedly unhappy at PSG and has requested to leave.
A number of clubs are thought to be lining up bids for the want away striker. Juventus and Manchester United are believed to be interested in the striker’s services. Cavani would provide back up to Diego Costa who has plagued with injuries of late, with Chelsea thought to be in the market for a new striker.
Recently Mourinho was quoted saying: “We need a couple of players to give [us] more strength and depth to the squad and give us that little bit extra to progress in the Champions League”. No price has been discussed yet, it is believed a bid will need to be in the region of £30m to test PSG’s restraints. With the new financial fair play restrictions playing a factor in all transfer business, a bid for Cavani may see a number of players head towards the exit door.
Cavani has managed to notch twelve league goals this season. Cavani boasts great versatility in his game, despite naturally being a striker, Cavani has featured mostly from wide positions for the French champions because of the inclusion of Zlatan Ibrahimovich.
