According to the London Evening Stanard, a serge of bets have been placed on Antoine Griezmann joining Chelsea over the summer. The mass amounts of bets have seen odds slashed to a 4/5. As a result of this, Chelsea have been made clear favourites to sign the French international, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea for some time.
Jose Mourinho is believed to be ready to activate Griezmann’s massive £43.5m release clause, after revealing he is only expecting to sign two or three players during the close season. Betfair’s, Michael Bowers had this to say: “It looks like the youngster’s £43.5 million release clause may have been met as Antoine Griezmann has now been backed into odds-on to make the move to Stamford Bridge this summer”.
Griezmann enjoyed a tremendous season under Diego Simeone, scoring 25 goals in all competitions. Bayern Munich are reportedly the closest team rivalling Chelsea for the French international’s signature. Pep Guardiola’s side are placed at 6/1 to complete a deal for the player.
