According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United have set Chelsea and Holland midfielder Marco van Ginkel as one of their summer targets, as they look to re-build prior to the new season.
The newspaper are reporting that the Magpies are to announce ex-Derby boss Steve McClaren as their new manager next week. Alongside Saido Berahino, McClaren is looking to bring in van Ginkel, in a push to sort the team out. The Dutch international spent last season on loan in the Serie A with AC Milan, and he is commonly known as injury prone.
Van Ginkel is only young, and still has huge amounts of talent. If he can find a way to prevent his mean streak of injuries and can get vital minutes under his belt, a move to Newcastle wouldn’t be such a bad move, if it was a loan.
What do you think Chelsea fans? Should we sell our young Dutch star to Newcastle? Let us know in the comments below!
