The Daily Express are reporting that Chelsea midfielder Jon Obi Mikel looks set to join Middle-East side Al Ain. Reports from Nigeria are also stating he has already agreed terms with the Abu Dhabi-based club but the transfer fee with Chelsea is yet to be agreed.
The Nigerian international’s agent Babawo Mohammed is quoted as saying:
“It is now left for Chelsea and the Dubai club Al Ain to agree on a transfer fee.”
Initially, it was though that Turkish side Fenerbahce were leading the race for the 28 year old but it now seems that Al Ain are in pole position for his signature.
Mikel has not featured as much as he would have liked this season and has seen himself fall lower in the pecking order after the arrivals of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas. Chelsea secured the player from Norwegian side Lyn FC after fighting off interest from Premier League rivals Manchester Untied.
