Chelsea’s Mohamed Salah is set to hold crucial talks with the club regarding his future, according to the Evening Standard.
Salah went out on loan to Italian side Fiorentina in January. In that deal, Chelsea placed a clause in which the Serie A side can extend the loan to the next season for a small fee. Fiorentina have chosen to activate that clause but Salah is having second thoughts about playing for a Vincenzo Montella-less team.
A number of European clubs including AC Milan and Athletico Madrid are reportedly interested in him too but Chelsea will only sell him for a fee believed to be in the region of around £17.5 million. But Fiorentina’s general manager, Andrea Rogg, is hopeful of acquiring the player’s services for another season. He has been quoted as saying:
“We will meet with his representatives and will see what his requests are.
“We have not spoken to the player. But we have already paid for the renewal of the loan, and established the contract for the upcoming season. We want to keep to what the contract says.”
Chelsea bought the Egyptian international player from Basel in January 2014 after fighting off interest from Liverpool. He failed to establish himself in the Blues’ team but thrived on loan in Italy, scoring nine goals.
