Chelsea face stiff competition in the race to sign German defender Antonio Rudiger from Stuttgart, as Atletico Madrid are reportedly looking to secure the defenders signature.
Following the departures of Toby Alderweireld and Miranda, who have both left Atleti for Tottenham and Inter Milan respectively, the La Liga side have been left seeking defensive replacements.
And according to Spanish newspaper AS, Diego Simeone has set his sights on Chelsea target Rudiger in his attempts to provide back up to first-choice centre-backs Diego Godin and Jose Maria Gimenez writes David Wright of the Express.
The Blues, who looked to be in pole position to land the defender this summer, will now look to intensify their attempts to sign the young German; with Rudiger’s agent recently revealing interest from Jose Mourinho.
