According to Sky Italia, Chelsea could be set to move in for highly rated Alessio Romagnoli of Roma.
The defender has been reportedly monitored by the likes of Arsenal and AC Milan recently. Roma have also recently expressed an interest for in-demand winger, Mohamed Salah. With it looking ever more likely that Salah will not return to Fiorentina, Chelsea could use Salah as a ploy to land the youngster.
This report comes quickly after news that Chelsea had a £20m bid rejected for Everton’s John Stones yesterday. Mourinho has clearly given himself a number of options for an area it is clear he wants to improve upon.
Roma have quickly slapped a £25m asking price on the Romagnoli, who is widely expected to be the next best thing out of Italy. Ashley Cole’s Roma are keen on landing Salah after he impressed during his brief spell with Fiorentina. However they can expect competition from a host of European clubs.
Romagnoli made 30 appearances in the Serie A last season and even scored 2 goals. He has represented Italy throughout the youth levels but is yet to feature for the senior side.
