Blues captain John Terry has been urged by his manager to improve his performances even further, ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
Sam Long of The Evening Standard reports that Jose Mourinho is encouraging the Englishman to step up, in spite of his already impressive role. 34-year-old Terry was instrumental in Chelsea’s Premier League winning season, and did not feature as much in other competitions.
‘Obviously last year he was fantastic. He didn’t play in the national team and when I could protect him in Capital One Cup and Champions League matches, I did’, said Mourinho.
His coach is now expecting the veteran to add to his goal tally in addition, with Terry already boasting the record as the highest scoring defender in English top tier history.
He added: ‘We invested everything into the Premier League with John, so let’s see if he can have the same season, with one more goal scored, to be better than this season.’
