Chelsea captain John Terry is the most successful English club captain post-war.
The Blues skipper has won 11 major trophies during his time at Stamford Bridge; with four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and three League Cup trophies under his belt.
And according to Get West London, who based their results on a points system based on the competitions captains have won rather than titles alone, Terry is still the most successful English club captain.
The Chelsea captain is ahead of former Arsenal legend Tony Adams in both sheer number of titles won, Terry’s 11 to Adams’ nine, and on the points system.
Get West London’s system gives a Champions League/European Cup winning captain 10 points, a Premier League/First Division winning captain earning eight points, while an FA Cup winning captain earns six and League Cup winning captain wins four.
Therefore Terry comes out on top with 68 points as, although he was involved in Chelsea’s respective Champions League and Europa League successes, he was not captain in either final, whilst Adams earns 62 points.
Liverpool’s Emlyn Hughes was joint second with Adams, with Graeme Souness fourth on 46 points.
