John Stones has been urged to stay at Everton by former England U21 boss Stuart Pearce, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The defender has been linked with Premier League champions Chelsea this summer, with the Blues already having a £20m bid rejected by Everton, with another of £26m believed to be in the pipeline.
But Pearce believes the 21-year-old should stay with the Toffees. He said, “I’m not sure [whether Stones should move to Chelsea].
“The dury is always out for me on these young players like Stones.”
Negotiations between Chelsea and Everton have threatened to get heated, with Roberto Martinez accusing the Londoners of unsettling the defender. This news follows Harry Redknapp and Gary Cahill also having their say on the deal.
And the Blues have reportedly admitted to receiving a letter from those in charge at Goodison Park, stating they are in no mood to negotiate a deal to sell Stones.
However it is rumoured that Everton would be willing to accept a bid of around £30m for the 21-year-old, despite Martinez also stating he does not wish to sell the defender.
Stones joined Everton in January 2013 for £3m and has since enjoyed a successful spell in Merseyside.
