After what’s already been an exciting week in the transfer window for the club, securing both Pedro from Barcelona and Baba Rahman from Augsburg, Chelsea have now been linked to AS Monaco starlet Anthony Martial.
The 19 year old is highly rated in France, and signed for Monaco after leaving Lyon in 2013 for €5 million. Since then, the striker has caught the eye of clubs across Europe, and Premier League side Tottenham were said to be interested before Monaco tied Martial down to a new four-year contract earlier this year.

However interest in the striker has refused to die down and now, according to Spanish paper AS, Chelsea are ready to make a surprise move for the young Frenchman. Reportedly, The Blues are lining up a bid in the region of €55 million to prize the player away from Monaco, and it’s unlikely the club will take any less for their young prodigy.
Although it looks doubtful that Martial will leave his club this summer, Champions League football is said to be a key factor, and should Monaco fail to qualify for the group stages of the competition, a deal could be done soon after. Therefore, a deal could be cut in the final weeks of the transfer window, as Chelsea look to strengthen their squad once again.
