Chelsea’s star winger has spoken about how the team “need to change” if they are to retain their Premier League title this season.
Hazard, speaking exclusively to Gillette Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports, has said:
Of course we need to change, we have just one point. We need to play our game, our football. We need to score more goals, defend very well. Everybody has to be better.
The Blues face West Brom on Sunday, looking for their first win of the season, after drawing at home to Swansea and losing 3-0 to Manchester City at the Etihad last week. However, Chelsea’s Belgium international is not surprised with how well other teams around them have started:
I’m not surprised [how hard it has been]. The manager said to the players last season “you will see next season will be hard”. It’s the beginning of the season, we have to work. Now we play the third game and if we want to be at the top at the end, we have to start winning games.

After a disappointing start to the campaign, Mourinho has been forced to act in the transfer window again, and the signing of Pedro from Barcelona has been particularly pleasing for Hazard.
When you play with Chelsea, you want to play with big players. Pedro can bring a new experience. He is very good, fast, I want to play with him.
Despite winning both the PFA and Football Writers’ Player of the Year awards last season, Hazard has also admitted that he must add more goals to his game if he is to be considered one of the world’s best.
Both Messi and Ronaldo scored over 40 goals last season compared to Hazard’s 14, in the same amount of games. The Chelsea winger wants to play down these comparisons until he starts scoring more frequently.
When you play football, the most important is to score more. This is my challenge now. Every game when I can, I try to score. It’s not easy to score every game.
Mourinho will be hoping Hazard can open his account against West Brom at the Hawthorns Sunday lunchtime, as The Blues search for their first much-needed win of the season.
