Chelsea’s latest exciting young Brazilian has set his sights on Rio 2016. Speaking to Globoesporte, Kenedy is eyeing a spot to feature in the Olympic games, in his native Brazil.
After completing a £8m move from Fluminense over the summer, Kenedy has impressed at Stamford Bridge, resulting in him being him given a chance at Chelsea this season, rather than being sent out on loan.
Kenedy was a bright spark in pre-season against Barcelona and was lively off the bench in the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace before the international break.
Brazilian players have a lot of quality. You have to work. It is about working and waiting for the opportunity. I have a year to work [before the 2016 Summer Olympics]. I have a lot to learn in Europe: tactical play, marking, speed. I think you can evolve more and keep learning day-to-day.
Kenedy may find himself in and amongst the minutes over the next few weeks thanks to the poor form of Chelsea’s big names. After impressing off the bench against Crystal Palace, Kenedy could feature again against Everton.
The Brazilian has represented Brazil at youth level, capped at U17s, U20s and U21s. An impressive season at Chelsea will make definitely aid his chances of featuring at next years’ Olympics.
Mourinho is the best coach in the world. I have a lot to learn from him. I am very happy to know that he liked me. It helps me day-to-day and helps me in training every day that he supports me.

Kenedy went on to speak about the opportunity he has been handed at Chelsea.
(When he called me) in my mind he was just playing. Being in a big club like Chelsea is a childhood dream, playing with great players like Ramires, Oscar, Diego Costa, Willian. They received me very well. I did my part, which was working hard in the pre-season. I showed how good I was. I think it all comes from you. If you want something, you have to go after it. That’s it. When I got the opportunity, I took advantage and got in the squad.
