Turkish newspaper told to sign Falcao

Turkish media have recently reported on the possibility of Fenerbahce signing Falcao during the January transfer window.

Remarkably, the club did something you don’t often see when rumours are circulated…

They released a statement regarding the rumours that proceeded to tell the newspaper to sign Falcao for them!

Their statement read:

According to the Fotomaç newspaper we are going to sign Falcao over the transfer window. Our transfer committee are not actually considering making a move as we are happy with our strikers but considering how keen Fotomaç are to make the transfer happen we give them permission to go ahead and sign him for us.

There’s something you don’t see every day.

Falcao joined the club back in the summer after a lacklustre loan spell at Manchester United.

Fenerbahce clearly like a Premier League player, having signed Van Persie, Nani and Lazar Markovic (on loan) recently, so the story itself isn’t totally unbelievable – well it wasn’t until the club quashed it with their statement.

The newspaper, Fotomaç, have yet to declare whether they’ll stump up the millions it’d require to buy Falcao. If they do, unlikely, perhaps he could make the office tea?

matchday.
