Mourinho thankful for faith shown by Abramovich

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho insists he will continue his hard work at the club, after Roman Abramovich gave the Portuguese coach his full backing earlier this week, according to The Express.

Mourinho’s future at the club came under intense pressure following Chelsea’s dismal 3-1 dismal home defeat against Southampton on Saturday, with the Blues boss saying after the match that he would only leave the club if he lost the trust of the players.

Club captain John Terry and midfielder Cesc Fabregas have since placed their faith in Mourinho, as well as Abramovich also making it clear that he wants The Special One at the club.

And Mourinho, who left the club amidst similar circumstances in 2007, insisted he is proud to be the Chelsea manager and vowed to continue his hard work at the club.

This fills me with pride. It shows the faith [Roman] Abramovich has in a manager who has won three Premier League titles. I thank him and will continue to work hard.

Mourinho has seen his side lose four of the opening eight Premier League games this season, as well as tasting defeat in the Champions League at the hands of his former club, Porto.
