Chelsea are ready to battle with new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp over the signature of Porto youngster Ruben Neves, according to Get West London.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to table a bid of £20m for the 18-year-old in the January transfer window after the midfielder impressed the Chelsea boss in The Blues’ 2-1 defeat to Porto last month.
However, the Portuguese coach may now face stiff competition in the race to sign the youngster, with Klopp having already sent scouts to watch the U21 international face Hungary on Friday.
Neves became the youngest ever player to play for Portugal’s U21 side in last summer’s European Championships and is widely regarded as one of Porto’s brightest young talents.

And Klopp was alerted to the midfielder by his development coach at Liverpool, Pep Lijnders, who was previously employed with Porto; with Lijnders stating that the youngster is an outstanding talent.
However, Mourinho’s chances of landing the Porto star may be boosted by Klopp’s intentions of giving the current Liverpool side a chance to impress, before looking to spend in the transfer market.
