Chelsea are lining up a January move for Atletico Madrid’s exciting, young midfielder Koke, according to reports.
The 23-year-old would reportedly cost around £40million, but Chelsea have shown a willingness to splash the cash so this shouldn’t be an issue.
The Spaniard is a mainstay in the Atletico team, and his performances in their title-winning season certainly caught the eye.
Barcelona are said to be interested in the Spanish international midfielder too, which could complicate things for Jose Mourinho’s men, but when such a high-class player is subject to transfer talks, competition from rival clubs is bound to arrive.
Whether Chelsea can attract him to Stamford Bridge is another matter, but the Blues could certainly offer him a higher salary than Atletico, and he might feel that he’s more likely to feature for Chelsea than for Barcelona.
Mourinho’s men have had a poor start to their league campaign, so it is little surprise that they are being linked with numerous players this early in the season.
