Chelsea frustrated at lack of game time for loanees

Chelsea are reportedly becoming concerned over the lack of playing time that youngsters Patrick Bamford and Nathaniel Chalobah are currently getting at Crystal Palace and Napoli respectively.

The pair of England U21 internationals both left Chelsea on season-long loans, but have hardly featured at their temporary clubs.

Bamford has only started one game so far at Palace; the Capital One Cup tie against League One side Shrewsbury Town in August. He’s hardly featured in the Palace side in the Premier League, and with the South London club performing so well, his chances of getting into the side look slim.

Chalobah has seen even less action during his loan spell in Italy. He’s featured for just five minutes as a late substitute in a Europa League tie.

Both players have clauses in their loan deals that mean Palace & Napoli will have to pay a larger fee if they don’t play often, but that’s not led to either seeing enough game time to satisfy Chelsea.

Reportedly, the loan agreements for both also allow the deals to be ended prematurely in January, and if they don’t start seeing more action, it’s possible that Chelsea will recall them.
