It is hard to to pinpoint exactly where Chelsea’s problems are routed this season, but the midfielder pairing of Cesc Fàbregas and Nemanja Matić has been severely criticised, with the latter being dropped by Mourinho.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek, therefore, is now closer than ever to commanding a starting role in Chelsea’s midfield and the nineteen-year-old has been backed to make an impact by England Under-21 boss, Gareth Southgate, per Eurosport.
Ruben knows he’s got to keep training well, and if he keeps doing that and performing as he did tonight, I’m sure he’ll get an opportunity.
Loftus-Cheek scored the decisive break-through goal in England’s 3-0 victory over a stubborn Kazakhstan team and produced a hugely impressive display in the heart of England’s midfield, earning the Man of the Match award. Southgate eluded to the midfielder’s physical and technical qualities.
He’s a very powerful player. His use of the ball and ability to ride challenges and manipulate the ball quickly is very special. He should be very pleased with what he’s done and hopefully he can progress that over the next few weeks with his club.

So far Loftus-Cheek has appeared three times this season for Chelsea but seems to be enjoying his time with England Under-21 squad as revealed in an interview with the FA’s official website.
Indeed, the Lewisham-born midfielder believes the group of players are improving game by game and looks forward to represented his country in the near future.
We’ve had to get to know each other and we have done really well because we all like each other and it’s been really good. That shows in the team and how we’ve got better with each game, so we’re already looking forward to the next matches.
