Chelsea to appeal Mourinho’s punishment

Chelsea have sent an appeal to the Football Association after their decision to give boss Jose Mourinho a fine and a suspended stadium ban following comments made after the 1-3 defeat against Southampton, report the Evening Standard.

The West London outfit have decided that they don’t agree with the written reasons that the Portuguese boss was sent by officials at the FA.

Speaking after the defeat to the Saints, the former Inter and Real Madrid boss suggested that referee Robert Madley was ‘afraid’ to give former Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao a penalty after falling over the Saints goalkeeper.

Mourinho went on to accept the misconduct charge that he received but failed to agree that he was questioning the match official’s integrity.

The Happy One is said to be ‘furious’ with the hefty fee that he has been given for a fine, alongside feeling that he is treated differently to other managers in the Premier League.
