Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Polish striker Robert Lewandowski was on the radar for Chelsea during his time in charge, according to Uche Amako of the Evening Standard.
The former Real Madrid boss was in charge in West London between 2009-2011, and brought the Premier League title to Stamford Bridge, following in the footsteps of Jose Mourinho. Ancelotti also won the FA Cup in his first year at the Blues.
Meanwhile, around the same time, Lewandowski was building his reputation, playing for Polish side Lech Poznan before making the switch to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in 2013.
During his time at Westfalenstadion, the 27-year-old went on to net 103 times in 186 appearances and won back-to-back Bundesliga titles under Jurgen Klopp.

In 2014, the Pole left Dortmund and made a move to fellow Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and continued his fine goal scoring form, to this day. This season, Lewandowski has netted 22 times for both club and country.
He’s a player that I have always followed, particularly in the first part of his career, when he was at Borussia Dortmund. Lewandowski was being followed by many clubs, not just me. But even when I was at Chelsea, I was tracking him.
Also, while I was at Madrid, but by then he was already going to Bayern, so it was too late.
