Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is ‘on a mission’ to rebuild Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic’s confidence, following a run of disappointing performances.
Following the win against Aston Villa on Saturday, it was like everything was normal and Mourinho was not ruling out bringing silverware to Stamford Bridge this season. Speaking to the Guardian, Mourinho said:
We can win all four trophies. It is possible, even if it’s also possible to lose all four. We are in October. Everything is open.
Obviously, that was a statement from the Portuguese boss rather than a proclamation that everything within the Chelsea camp is just like what it was last season.

The win over Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa needs to be added to by a victory in the Champions League on Tuesday when the Blues are hosted by Dynamo Moscow in Ukraine.
Mourinho went on to discuss how he could tell how Matic was feeling in the 2-0 win on Saturday after a poor pass from the Serbian but believes his confidence can be regained with consistent performances.
Confidence is fundamental. Matic lost an easy pass when he came on, on Saturday, and the first reaction he had was to show a disappointment. When you are full of confidence you don’t show disappointment. You make a mistake, you know that you’re not going to make another mistake after. So [stay] calm, let’s go step by step.
