Chelsea linked with move for “the new Matic”

Chelsea are looking to secure a deal to bring young Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic to Stamford Bridge, according to reports.

The plan for Chelsea is to sign the youngster, who currently plays for Red Star Belgrade, in the summer, and like they’ve done numerous times before, send him out on loan to gain experience.

This time, the club they reportedly will send the player to is Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt, who would greatly appreciate the arrival of such a young, talented player.

Grujic was part of the Serbian side that won the U-20 World Cup in New Zealand this year and is also reportedly a target for Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United.

The 19-year old, who has been dubbed by some as ‘the new Nemanja Matic’, would cost The Blues around £3million in the summer, which is a remarkably low price for a young player who has a contract that runs up until 2018.

If Chelsea get their wish, they’ll sign the player then send him to the Bundesliga for a season to allow him to develop by playing regularly at a higher level.
