The Irish Mirror claim that Italian side Fiorentina have made initial enquiries about a January move for misfiring Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao.
The Colombian forward moved to Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan from Monaco during the summer following a disastrous campaign at Manchester United. Despite the mass hysteria surround his arrival in the Premier League, the former River Plate hitman struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford and drew widespread criticism as he registered just 4 goals during an injury-plagued 2014/15 campaign.
Falcao, who was one of the most devastating strikers on the planet during his two-year stint at Athletico Madrid, has desperately struggled to recapture his goalscoring touch since departing the Vincente Calderon in 2013 and it was hoped that Mourinho could be the man to help the 29-year-old return to his best.
Despite Mourinho’s pledge to help Falcao ‘reach his level again’ the Columbian has netted just once since joining the Blues and has looked desperately short of quality and confidence when called upon.
Falcao’s agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly eager to bring the Colombian’s nightmare spell in England to an end and has approached a number of top European clubs, including Fiorentina and Valencia, with the intentions of forcing through a January move for his client.
Mourinho is keen to add more firepower to his struggling side after the Blue’s disastrous start to the season and, despite insisting that he wants Falcao to stay, the Portugese coach could be willing to let the goal-shy Colombian leave in January if the Blues can find an adequate replacement.
Any January move for Falcao would be dependent upon the striker receiving clearance from his parent club Monaco.
