Zola confirms interest in signing Terry

Chelsea legend and club icon, Gianfranco Zola has confirmed his intentions to try and sign current Blues captain, John Terry.

According to the Evening Standard, Zola, who is now the manager at Qatari club, Al Arabi, would like to team up with the former England international.

Terry is under contract until the end of next season and could leave the club then, with the defender on rolling contracts every year. To the relief of Chelsea fans, however, Zola confirmed he is yet to make contact with the defender.

Zola admits he may be unable to sign Terry immediately, but would like to try and sign him within two years. Terry will want to remain focused on ensuring he can help Chelsea turn around their season, the Blues have endured one of their worst starts to a season.

The Italian said:

John Terry is a big player and Al Arabi is interested in big players so we will see what happens, there is a chance because it is one of the places where people want to go. The quality of life is very high here.

The former Chelsea player went on to speak about his relationship with Terry:

There are clubs that pay well for the players to come so I wouldn’t be surprised if I see John Terry playing in this country maybe next year, maybe in two years I don’t know exactly when. The connection is easy me and John played together and have a very high opinion of each other so it comes quite natural to do that.
