Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho seemed to have an impeccable record at Stamford Bridge throughout his time in the Premier League, however, this season he’s watched his side lose three times at home to Crystal Palace, Southampton and most recently Liverpool.
Despite a poor start to the season which has seen the club take just 11 points from as many matches, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes Mourinho is still one of the best managers in world football, reports Get West London.
The Blues look like a completely different team than that who won the Premier League last season, however despite extensive speculation regarding Mourinho’s job, Klopp thinks he’s the man to turn things around:
I feel for him, it’s normal. He’s a great coach, I don’t think anyone in this room is in doubt that he is one of the best managers in the world.
Following years of success, Klopp experienced a troubled period with Borussia Dortmund last season and claimed these poor runs of form happen in football:
Bad things like this happen and I had a similar situation in Dortmund last year and the good thing was nobody in the club was in doubt about my position. I never felt pressure. So we could change the situation with the quality of players.
Chelsea don’t need to talk about this because they can change it. I feel for him of course but it’s normal work to change it and they will change it but today we were here for the three points, not here for changing the situation for Chelsea.
Chelsea began Saturday afternoon’s clash well and were 1-0 up inside five minutes following Ramires’ header. However, Philippe Coutinho scored twice before Christian Benteke added a third, as Liverpool took all three points back to Anfield.
Klopp said:
We had not the best start, that’s the truth. We had our moments, our build up with short passes was very good. They tried to make pressure but we could play in the spaces in between.
We had control of these situations. We made a goal and deserved the draw at half-time. The second half was open and we made our goals at perfect moments for us.
I feel it’s deserved. We have worked hard but it’s normal if you want to win in Chelsea.
Mourinho will welcome Dynamo Kyiv to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, before travelling to face Stoke City next Saturday evening, who knocked Chelsea out of the Capital One Cup on penalties last week.
