Harry Redknapp has offered a somewhat basic, yet entirely justified solution to Chelsea’s poor run of form by suggesting that Jose Mourinho goes back to picking and trusting his best players.
Speaking on BT Sport, the former Tottenham manager said:
I think he needs the better players back on [his] side if he can. He needs to go back to picking his best teams; he left people out recently like [Nemanja] Matic & [Eden] Hazard. I think he needs to put his faith in them.
There have been suggestions in recent weeks to Mourinho, encouraging him to pick younger players to help change Chelsea’s fortunes, but Redknapp doesn’t agree with this.

People talk about playing young players, but Chelsea haven’t got the young players. I think they have got to get out of this situation with the experienced players.
Chelsea have had a very poor start to the season and sit in 15th place in the Premier League table, just four points above the relegation zone and if results don’t improve quickly, it becomes inevitable that Mourinho will find himself heading towards the Stamford Bridge exit door.
The Blues host Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League tonight, and know that a defeat could leave them with an uphill struggle in terms of qualification.
If they lose tonight and Porto defeat Maccabi Tel-Aviv, as expected, Mourinho’s men would find themselves four points adrift of second place with just two games to go.
A win, however, would lighten the pressure building on the club and put themselves two points ahead of Kyiv.
