We may be in a bit of a bad run of form, but even managers from across Europe are joking about it.
According to the Metro, following Rubin Kazan’s defeat to Liverpool last night, Kazan manager, Valeriy Chaly compared Liverpool’s performance against his side, to their performance against the Premier League champions last weekend. He then took a cheeky dig at Chelsea.
Charly said:
In the second half, we looked more composed but we have a problem with the composition so the young players had a chance.
The manager reportedly quite pleased with his side’s performance in the Europa League, despite losing 1-0 through a Jordan Ibe goal.
He went on to add:
For them, it’s an experience. Liverpool are a good team and showed that against Chelsea — so, we are still better than Chelsea.
Very funny!
Chelsea’s last meeting with the Russian side was during Rafael Benitez’s reign, on route to winning the Europa League. Chelsea beat Rubin Kazan over two legs, winning the first game 3-1 at Stamford Bridge and losing 3-2 with goals from Fernando Torres and now on-loan winger, Victor Moses in the away leg, which secured a place in the semi-final.
