Abramovich could turn to Rodgers and Simeone

Abramovich could turn to Rodgers and Simeone

Chelsea are reportedly on red alert as Diego Simeone is ready to quit Atletico Madrid at the end of the season, according to the Mirror.

Roman Abramovich is thought to be a big admirer of Simeone, and would be interested in bringing him to Stamford Bridge, should Mourinho be unable to turn the season around.

The Madrid manager is unwilling to leave Spain until the end of the season. Simeone has been in charge of Atletico since 2011 and has enjoyed a very successful spell.

However, it may not be Mourinho that Simeone could take over from. Abramovich is reportedly open to the idea of bringing former Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers to Stamford Bridge until the end of the season if Mourinho is sacked.

Rodgers was a youth coach at Chelsea during Mourinho’s first spell at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have suffered a drastically poor start to the season and now face a fight to make the top four and qualify for the Champions League.
