BBC Sport pundit, Gareth Crooks says if Roman Abramovich does choose to part company with Jose Mourinho, he should look no further than Southampton manager, Ronald Koeman.
Southampton are currently eight games unbeaten in all competition and sit seventh, nine places above an off colour Chelsea side that sit 16th in the league, behind two of the newly promoted teams; Watford and Norwich.
Chelsea have already lost seven games this season; including a 3-1 defeat to Southampton at Stamford Bridge. Goals from Steven Davis, Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle were enough for Ronald Koeman’s men to see off the reigning Premier League champions.
With pressure mounting on Jose Mourinho’s position as Chelsea manager, there has been rampant speculation that he could be sacked in the coming weeks. They face Norwich after the international break and a defeat to the Canaries could well see Jose Mourinho out of Stamford Bridge.
Gareth Crooks has said Koeman would be a good replacement.
The Saints are on a great run and have been nothing short of amazing under Ronald Koeman.
So why are the press fuelling the speculation around Brendan Rodgers, Roberto Di Matteo or Guus Hiddink taking over at Chelsea?
Blues owner Roman Abramovich would be stark raving mad to part company with Jose Mourinho, but if he did why wouldn’t you go for Koeman?
