Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has returned with his weekly predictions for the game in the Premier League and has backed Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea to bounce back from their defeat at Stoke to beat Norwich City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Merson was keen to highlight that if the Blues don’t win, and the top four do, Mourinho’s side find themselves even further behind with added pressure on the boss.
However, he doesn’t expect that to happen and even thinks the hosts are going to keep a clean sheet, predicting 2-0!
We keep saying this is the time for Chelsea, this is the game to kick-start their campaign, but they’ve lost seven league games this season. It is a must-win game for them. I know it is only November but if Man Utd did beat Watford and Chelsea lost this game, it’s a stupid amount of points to catch them up and get in the top four.
Diego Costa has got to step up, stop wanting to fight everybody and be the player that they bought initially. If they don’t win, I think top four is out of the question and Jose Mourinho will be under so much more pressure. I don’t even think Arsene Wenger could go on a run like this and survive.
Mourinho will be back on the touchline for the game against the Canaries, after serving his stadium ban when his side made the trip up to the Britannia Stadium just before the international break, suffering a 1-0 loss. Just before the domestic defeat, the Blues crashed out of the Capital One Cup in the same ground, losing on penalties.
