John Obi Mikel is considering his future at Stamford Bridge according to his agent.
Reports from London24 state that Mikel’s agent has revealed that Mikel does not know whether he will stay at Chelsea for much longer after his chances in the first-team have been limited.
The Nigerian midfielder has been at Stamford Bridge since 2006, however, with the likes of Ramires, Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas in the squad, Mikel has fallen further and further down the pecking order over the years.
Mikel has not featured for Jose Mourinho’s side since their 3-1 defeat to Liverpool. The 28-year-old has just three appearances in the Premier League, including the home defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The midfielder reportedly had offers to leave London in the summer, but the club refused to sell him, as they had him in their plans. Mikel has become a favourite under Mourinho in the latter stages of games.
Mikel is often deployed in matches when Chelsea are looking to shut up shop and play in a much more defensive style.
Mikel’s agent John Shittu told Africanfootball.com:
The player had offers to move at the beginning of the season, but Chelsea refused to sell because they probably have him in their plans, now we have to wait and see what happens.
