Cesar Azpilicueta says he is happy to play wherever Jose Mourinho asks him to play whilst speaking to the club’s official website.
The defender has been one of the bright sparks of Chelsea’s poor season so far and has enjoyed some solid individual performances in Chelsea’s back four. However, it hasn’t been very consistent for the Spaniard.
He said:
I think at this stage last season I hadn’t played so many games on the right but my goal and my target is always the same – to help the team.
Due to the injuries to Branislav Ivanovic and Baba Rahman taking time to settle into life at Chelsea, Azpilicueta has been forced to play left-back and right-back on several different occasions already this season.

The defender went on to say:
I feel comfortable in both positions so I’m ready for the manager when he wants me to play.
‘Dave’ as he is known by the Chelsea fans, was dropped against Norwich in the club’s last Premier League game, but returned for their away game in the Champions League game against Maccabi Tel-Aviv on Tuesday, playing at right-back.
Ivanovic could return to the starting line-up against Tottenham on Sunday, which means Azpilicueta is likely to be shifted around again, back to left-back. The defender gave his thoughts on the upcoming London derby.
In the Premier League (last season) we played a tough game there and it was a hard defeat to take but we played them in the League Cup final after that and won, so every game is different. We are confident, we have to keep going and try to get the three points.
