Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says he has no sympathy for Tottenham after Mauricio Pochettino’s side had to travel to Azerbaijan just three days before they host the champions at White Hart Lane.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of the game, Mourinho said:
Big clubs, they cope with difficult moments. We played a Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid – Wednesday and Tuesday – and in the middle we had to play Liverpool and our country decided it was not a problem to play Saturday or Sunday. So we play Sunday before the Champions League. If it’s not a problem for us, it’s not a problem for Tottenham.
Chelsea played on Tuesday night so will have had two days more rest than Spurs, and will hope this will give them an advantage as they look to build on the back-to-back wins against Norwich and Maccabi Tel-Aviv respectively.

Pochettino’s men have had a good start to the season and currently sit in fifth place, 10 points and 10 places ahead of Chelsea, and Mourinho says that he’s not been surprised with how well they’ve been playing.
When I watch them play, it’s not a surprise for me. If they tell players or manager they are fighting for the title I would not laugh. I’d accept it as the team is very good. The manager is good. The players are good. They have good stability and I think they’re a very good team.
Spurs are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions, and haven’t lost a league game since August, so the game on Sunday will be a difficult one for Chelsea.
