Chelsea could be stuck with Falcao

Chelsea could be stuck with Radamel Falcao beyond January according to the Independent.

The report suggests that Falcao’s parent club, AS Monaco, do not want the striker to return to the club in January. So, unless both parties can finalise another loan deal for the striker, he is to remain at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season.

Various reports had suggested that Chelsea would look to cut their loan deal early and dip into the transfer market for reinforcements in attack. However, Monaco do not want Falcao back early as they would have to pay his wages in full, which are believed to be around £265,000 a week.

He is currently cutting Chelsea back around £135,000 a week. Valencia remains an option for Falcao as Jorge Mendes has a good relationship with the Spanish club according to the report.

Falcao has struggled to recapture any of the form that made him one of the most feared strikers around Europe during his Atletico Madrid and Porto days. The Colombian has made just two starts all season, scoring just one goal.

He has not featured for Mourinho’s side since late October due to injury.
