Boga snubbed French giants for Chelsea

Jeremie Boga has revealed he snubbed a move to Marseille in order to complete a move to Stamford Bridge according to Le 10 Sport.

The Frenchman reveals both Marseille and Chelsea were interested after scouting him during a tournament in which he was awarded player of the tournament.

Boga joined Chelsea from ASPTT Marseille way back in 2008 and since the 18-year-old has starred in the youth teams over the years.

He said:

Chelsea came to see me during a tournament in Marseille. They had heard about me and they came for the final, I had a good match and ended up as player of the tournament.

Boga admits he feels he made the right choice:

OM followed me as well, but during this time, we weren’t interested, neither my family nor me. I think that Chelsea was the best choice I could have made.

This season Boga joined Ligue 1 side, Rennes, but has struggled to hold down a place in their first XI. Reports this week have claimed that Boga is considering using the clause in his contract to end the loan early so he can move elsewhere.

Since joining Rennes he has only featured eight times this season. Chelsea are thought to be expecting more from the French side.

Boga will be hoping to feature for Rennes tonight as they face off against the side he could have signed for in Ligue 1.
