Blues captain John Terry invited UK Snooker champion Neil Robertson to parade his trophy at Stamford Bridge.
Neil Robertson is both a good friend of John Terry and a fan of Chelsea. On Sunday night, Robertson, 33, beat China’s Liang Wenbo to clinch the Betway UK Championship title. He hopes that he can inspire Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea to overcome the threat of FC Porto in their crucial Champions League match.
The UK Champion revealed that the Chelsea captain sent him a text message midway through his match urging him to seal his victory. The Aussie re-lived in an interview with Get West London what the 35-year-old said to him during his game,
JT texted me after I made the max and said, ‘Just keep concentrating and bring the trophy on Wednesday’.
Chelsea are top of Group G, but with the form they are in there is a lot of nerves surrounding the game. A win for Dynamo Kyiv over Maccabi Tel Aviv and if Porto beat Chelsea, Jose Mourinho’s side could slump to third in the group. A defeat for Chelsea could see them knocked out of the Group stage for the first time since they were knocked out in 2012/13.
Robertson continued to discuss what Terry invited him down to do, he revealed:
He’s maybe asked me to do that to motivate the boys, so I’ll definitely take the trophy to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
It looks like Terry is trying to inject a bit of inspiration to his teammates as they’ve picked up just four points in their last five games.
Chelsea’s shock defeat to Premier League newcomers Bournemouth on Saturday left the Blues just five points off the relegation zone just six months after winning the Premier League title.
