Thiago Silva says Chelsea are more dangerous this season

PSG captain and Brazilian international, Thiago Silva believes that Chelsea are much stronger this season, according to Goal.

The French side are preparing to meet Chelsea in the round of 16 of the Champions League, after being paired together in Monday’s draw. This will be the third time in as many years the two sides have met in the competition.

Last season, both games ended in a draw, 1-1 and 2-2. The latter coming at Stamford Bridge when PSG were down to 10 men when Zlatan Ibrahimovic saw red.

Chelsea whimpered out of the Champions League last night and will be hoping to set the record straight when the pair meet again in February. The Premier League champions go into the game on the back of a dreadful domestic season.

The Blues currently sit 16th in the Premier League, one point off the relegation spots. When asked if this would affect the match, Silva responded:

A lot [more dangerous]. If you know a little about football, today PSG is the favourite to advance to the quarter-finals, and that is a great responsibility.

Silva went on to say he is expecting a tough match:

It can be good for the fans, but this is an extra pressure. We sort of have the obligation to pass this phase. But we all know that football is a very tight game, even more when it comes to the Champions League.

He also said he believes either side could win:

And we are playing the second game away. So I think it’s a 50-50 chance for each side
