After only just ridding themselves of one divisive character in Jose Mourinho, Chelsea look set to take on board another, after the Mirror reported, the club have held talks with Emmanuel Adebayor.
The Blues are in desperate need of reinforcements, especially in the striking department after a catastrophic start to the season, and are reportedly looking to the Togo forward as the answer.
Adebayor was released by former club, Tottenham, in September after a bizarre summer of failed transfer moves, and has remained a free-agent ever since, although he claims to have kept himself in good physical condition.
However, it was reported earlier this month that the former Arsenal and Manchester City man is still earning £100k a week from Spurs which extraordinarily makes him the top earner at White Hart Lane.
This means that any club wishing to sign the striker will have to negotiate with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy which could prove to be a stumbling block in the move.
Despite this, Levy is notoriously tight-fisted and will be eager to get such huge wages of the books as Spurs look to consolidate their good start to the season in the January transfer market.
This should help the Blues pursuit of the striker and if they do complete the signing, they will hope to see the invigorated Adebayor who so often appears soon after arriving at a club which would greatly improve the fortunes of the West Londoners.
